Catch your Shiba

It will happen to you someday and the game is on. If your shiba is a young puppy, they will typically stay by your side, but as they get older, their propensity to run is strong. This is why our contract states that your dog must be on leash if not in a enclosed area.

Shibas are notorious escape artists and when they do, here are some tips to catching them.

DO NOT PANIC OR CHASE THEM !

This will turn into a game of you can't catch me. Calmly try to approach them and speak softly and entice them toward you (treats help)

If they are chasing something, the degree of difficulty increases.

Get their attention, food or squeaky toys.

If they see you, try to get their attention and get them to chase you, if they do chase you, fall on the ground and make high pitched squelling noise.

Remember Shibas are smart, they typically will not fall for the same trick twice.

They may approach a stranger before you since they know you are trying to catch them.
